The Hope Hose Company graffiti refers to a fire department band. It began as the Beck Fireman’s Band in Philadelphia about 1830. During the Civil War, the band grew into the Philadelphia Brigade Band and was composed of members from the Beck Band, the 28th Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry Band, and the 12th New Jersey Infantry Regiment Band.
