The Graffiti House and the Brandy Station Foundation Are Looking For Volunteers

Civil War buff?

Looking for new friends who share your interest?

Got a few hours to spare?

The Graffiti House needs you!

The Graffiti House is a Civil War era field hospital where the wounds of both Northern and Southern soldiers were tended during the Battle of Brandy Station, the largest cavalry battle of the war. Soldiers wrote their names and heart felt messages on the walls using charcoal from the fires that kept them warm and cooked their meals.

The house located on the Culpeper County battlefield was saved from the wrecking ball in 1993 and, thanks to an active, dedicated team of volunteers, has been restored so that its bitter sweet story can be shared.   Once you've seen the Graffiti House, you'll understand how precious it is and how only a twist of fate kept it from being lost forever.  Join us as we preserve our past for our future.

Help is needed in all areas:

  • Tour guides and greeters

  • Housekeeping

  • Building and grounds maintenance

  • Special events and festivals

Whatever your skills, we can use you!

History buffs, retirees, college students, scouts, church groups - anyone and everyone!!

Flexible hours.

No big commitment.  Choose your days or volunteer every now and then "on call".

Free training (and lots of friendship) provided.

Too busy right now?

No problem.  Save our number.  We can always use a willing hand or two!
